The Grove City Community Library is seeking a dynamic, expert communicator, community-minded leader for the position of Library Director. Our library serves the community of Grove City Borough as well as several townships in the surrounding area, and we are members of the New Castle Library System.

Job Description:
The Library Director serves as the chief executive of the Grove City Community Library, responsible for the full scope of day-to-day management and operations. The director implements board-approved policies, leads library staff, and exercises independent professional judgment in all operational matters
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines administrative oversight with direct patron service. The Director is the primary liaison between library staff, the Board of Trustees, community partners, and the general public, and communicates regularly with the board president between monthly meetings.
Given the library’s current priorities, candidates with demonstrated experience in fundraising, grant writing, community engagement, and nonprofit financial management are strongly encouraged to apply.
Job Requirements:

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program, preferred

Public Library Certification as a professional librarian from the Pennsylvania Department of Education

FBI, PA Criminal Background Checks, and PA Child Abuse History Clearances

Two years library leadership experience and/or library management, preferred
-
Successful leadership role in a community or non-profit organization, preferred

Non-profit fundraising, development and grant writing experience, preferred
-
Interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, volunteers, board members and patrons
-
Strong oral and written communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
-
Manage the day-to-day operation of the library
-
Lead, develop, administer, and coordinate the work of the library staff and volunteers
-
Perform managerial duties related to personnel, scheduling, budget, and collection development.

Coordinate with board treasurer on budget, payroll and benefit allocations
-
Work with staff to organize a broad range of activities and programs for children, teens, and adults
-
Prepare required state and organizations reports
-
Coordinate fundraising and library development in conjunction with the staff
-
Pursue financial support on local, state and national levels
-
Identify and write grant applications
-
Develop and maintain relationships with the community, including local governments, businesses, schools, fundraising organizations, Mercer County libraries, New Castle library system

Represent the library at Meetings and workshops

Attend community and library fundraising events

Collaborate with Board of Trustees to:

Identify, review and fulfill the mission and values for the library

Evaluate library performance and effectiveness
-
Develop, review, update and implement the strategic plan

Monitor, identify and address relevant financial, operational, staffing and facility matters

Salaried full-time position 35-hour work week including evening and weekend hours.
