Grove City Community Library has been chosen to sponsor a series of book discussion programs called Read About It!: Books on Screen

 

Books on Screen is a part of Read About It!, a book discussion series of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council.  This program is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office of Commonwealth Libraries.

 

The discussion group will explore the relationship between literature and film adaption.  Participants will read and discuss popular titles including: Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by F.Scott Fitzgerald, Atonement by Ian McEwan, and Slumdog Millionaire by Vikas Swarup.

 

The program is free and open to the general public, and requires no special knowledge about literature.  Participants will receive their own copies of the books.  The films will be shown at the library and DVDs will be available for checkout to participants.

 

Film screenings and discussions will be held at the Grove City Community Library starting in September on scheduled Thursdays beginning at 6 PM.

 

September 9th: Alice in Wonderland film screening

September 16th: Alice in Wonderland discussion

 

October 7th: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button film screening

October 14th: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button discussion

 

November 4th: Atonement film screening

November 11th: Atonement discussion

 

December 2nd: Slumdog Millionaire film screening    

December 9th: Slumdog Millionaire discussion

 

Registration is required and is limited to the first 30 responders. To register, stop by the library, call the library at 724-458-7320, or e-mail at grovecpl@zoominternet.net.
